Lomita Railroad Museum – 2137 West 250th St, Lomita, CA 90717

Mark your calendars—one of Lomita’s most unique and nostalgic evenings is back! Join the Lomita Railroad Museum on Friday, June 13, for the third annual A Night at the Railroad Museum, a free community event that brings the golden age of rail travel to life.

Step into a world between 1900 and 1950, when steam locomotives ruled the rails. Guests are invited to dress in period attire (optional but encouraged!) and enjoy a vibrant evening filled with music, vintage cars, and historic railway demonstrations.

What to Expect:

Guided Tours – Explore the museum’s 1910 Union Pacific caboose and the fully restored Southern Pacific 2-6-0 #1765 steam locomotive. Learn what life was like on the rails with help from knowledgeable docents.

Live Demonstrations – See early railroad technology in action, including a working 1881 Fairbanks & Morse Velocipede used for track maintenance.

Vintage Automobiles – Admire classic cars brought in by volunteer collectors, showcasing transportation styles from a bygone era.

Photo Opportunities – Snap a souvenir photo with vintage props and the museum’s historic equipment as your backdrop.

Live Entertainment – Enjoy music and performances throughout the evening.

Artifact Access – Get a rare look at historical items not normally on display, brought out just for this special night.

A Few Notes:

  • The event is free and open to the public.

  • Recommended for ages 13 and up due to the historical content.

  • No reservations required—just show up early to catch all the fun.

Whether you’re a local history buff, train enthusiast, or just looking for a fun and unique Friday night, this event offers a rare chance to explore Southern California’s railroad past in an engaging and immersive way. This is why We Love South Bay Local.
