Looking to refresh your yard while making it more water-efficient? The City of Rolling Hills Estates and West Basin Municipal Water District are hosting a free Garden Design Class to help residents create beautiful, climate-resilient landscapes designed for Southern California.

During the class, participants will learn how to capture and retain rainwater, plan a rain garden, create hydrozones for more efficient irrigation, choose climate-appropriate plants, and incorporate permeable hardscaping. The class will also cover helpful design principles, including choosing the right plants for the right spaces and using plant forms, colors, and accents to create a cohesive landscape.

By the end of the evening, attendees will have tools to develop a plant palette, sketch out a landscape plan, and make thoughtful choices that can create a more sustainable and lower-maintenance garden.

The class is free and open to residents within Metropolitan Water District's service area. Space is limited, so advance registration is recommended. Snacks will also be available while supplies last.

We love events that give South Bay residents practical resources they can actually use at home. This Garden Design Class is a great opportunity to learn more about creating a beautiful outdoor space while conserving water and choosing plants that are better suited for our local climate.
