The North Torrance Library will host a hands-on Geode Workshop in collaboration with the South Bay Lapidary and Mineral Society, offering an engaging and educational experience for kids interested in rocks, minerals, and the natural world. This interactive program brings science and creativity together in a way that feels approachable and fun.
At 1:00 PM, participants will learn about geodes, how they form, and what makes them unique. The workshop introduces basic concepts around gemstones and minerals while giving kids the opportunity to see and handle different specimens. It is designed to spark curiosity while keeping the experience simple and hands-on.
One of the highlights of the workshop is the chance for participants to crack open their own geode and discover what is inside. This moment tends to be both exciting and memorable, as each geode reveals something different. It is a small but meaningful way to connect learning with a real, tactile experience.
The program is supported by the South Bay Lapidary and Mineral Society, bringing in local expertise and adding depth to the experience. Their involvement helps create an environment where kids can ask questions, explore, and learn directly from people who are passionate about the subject.
Supplies are limited, so we recommend arriving early. The event is free, making it an easy opportunity for families to take part in something educational without needing to plan too far ahead.
This is why We Love South Bay Local. Events like the Geode Workshop create opportunities for hands-on learning, curiosity, and simple moments of discovery right here in Torrance.
