Join the community at Malaga Cove Library Art Gallery on Saturday, September 6, from 2:00–3:30 PM for a unique and creative experience: the Hanji Art Workshop. Hanji, a traditional Korean handmade paper, is celebrated for its durability, versatility, and distinctive texture. This workshop offers a chance to explore its cultural significance while crafting your own work of art.
Hands-On Crafting – Participants will select a design, prepare patterns, cut and shape the Hanji, and carefully assemble their creation.
Traditional Techniques – Learn the fundamentals of Hanji crafting while gaining a deeper appreciation for Korean heritage.
Creative Exploration – Finished pieces may take the form of decorative art, small functional objects, or cultural keepsakes.
All Supplies Included – No need to bring anything—just your creativity!
The workshop is limited to 25 attendees and is open to ages 10 through adult. No registration is required, so arrive early to secure your spot.
This event is more than a craft—it’s an opportunity to connect with history, culture, and creativity in one afternoon. Whether you’re an artist, a history enthusiast, or simply curious, you’ll leave with both a completed project and a deeper appreciation for this centuries-old art form.
This is why We Love South Bay Local—events like the Hanji Art Workshop remind us that libraries aren’t just for books, but also for cultural exchange, learning, and bringing people together through shared experiences.
