Immerse Yourself in the Splendor of SOAR Tropical Butterfly Pavilion at South Coast Botanic Garden

Get ready to be enchanted as the butterflies return to South Coast Botanic Garden for the 4th annual SOAR Tropical Butterfly Pavilion event!

This beloved exhibit showcases hundreds of tropical butterflies, offering a rare glimpse into their captivating world. Begin your journey in the Host and Nectar Garden, where you'll stroll among beautiful plant species that serve as the butterflies' habitat. Witness the magical moment of a butterfly emerging from its pupa in the Emergence Chamber before entering the pavilion, where you'll be surrounded by fluttering butterflies. Don't miss the chance for unforgettable photo opportunities both inside and outside the pavilion as part of the SOAR experience. And after your butterfly adventure, continue to delight your senses with Bloom!

Advance reservations for SOAR are required, with time slots available from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm daily until August 31st. Each ticket grants 30 minutes in the pavilion at the specified time.

Butterfly Feeding Experience:

For a truly unique encounter, opt for the Butterfly Feeding Experience. For an additional $6, you'll receive a flower vial filled with nectar to entice butterflies to come closer during your pavilion visit. One vial per ticket holder is provided, to be returned at the end of the experience.

Photo Pass Wednesdays:

Capture stunning moments with the SOAR Photo Pass, available from 10 to 11 am on the last Wednesday of every month. This ticket allows extra time in the pavilion and permits additional camera equipment for those perfect shots.

Parent & Me: Butterflies 101:

Join the Parent & Me: Butterflies 101 class on select Fridays in May. From 10 to 11 am, embark on a guided tour from the Emergence Chamber Window to the Pavilion, where children will create their own butterfly identification guide. Rain or shine, this immersive class includes all necessary supplies and general garden admission for both adults and children.
