International Surf Festival 2024

The 61st International Surf Festival is back, with Hermosa Beach as the 2024 host city. This exciting event, presented by BEACHSPORT.org, the Chambers of Commerce, and the Cities of Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, and Torrance, in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Fire Department and Department of Beaches and Harbors, showcases the vibrant beach culture of the South Bay area.

Event Highlights:

• Judge Taplin Lifeguard Medley Relay: Watch lifeguards compete in a challenging relay showcasing their skills and teamwork.
• Dwight Crum Pier-to-Pier Swim: Cheer on swimmers as they race between the iconic piers.
• Charlie Saikley 6-Man Volleyball Tournament: Enjoy the high-energy volleyball action featuring teams in fun and creative costumes.

This festival promotes physical fitness and highlights the world’s best lifeguard service, drawing thousands of participants aged 8 to their late 80s. The event has also hosted numerous international lifeguard teams, including teams from Victoria, Australia.

Kick-Off Dinner: The festival kick-off dinner is held on the Wednesday prior to the start of the Charlie Saikley 6-Man Volleyball Tournament and the Lifeguard Intracrew competition on Friday. The dinner includes the prestigious Los Angeles County Fire Department Lifeguard Medal of Valor award ceremony.
