Manhattan Beach Russell Nomura and Yoshiko Oest May 21, 2025
This Saturday, May 24, join the Waves of Color Project and the Roundhouse Aquarium for a special beach cleanup at Manhattan Beach Pier from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Not only will you be helping to protect our local beaches—you’ll also be supporting a meaningful student-led initiative that promotes ocean education and community engagement.
The Waves of Color Project was created by a group of students from Da Vinci Design High School as part of their senior capstone. In partnership with the Roundhouse Aquarium, these students have developed a beautifully illustrated children’s activity book that teaches sustainable habits and highlights the importance of protecting marine life.
Their goal? To inspire the next generation to become ocean stewards.
To celebrate the launch of their project and share their message with the community, they’re hosting this cleanup event—and giving away 100 free copies of their book to attendees.

Whether you're a local, a parent looking for a meaningful weekend activity, or just want to spend your Saturday doing some good, this is a great way to get involved. You’ll walk away knowing you made a difference—and maybe even with a new book to share.
It’s inspiring to see young people take the lead in protecting our coast and engaging the community. Events like this are what make South Bay feel connected and hopeful for the future—and this is why We Love South Bay Local.
