PV Reads: Canvas Book Art at Miraleste Library

As part of the PV Reads community program, adults are invited to take part in a creative afternoon at Miraleste Library. This Canvas Book Art Workshop offers participants the opportunity to design their own interpretation of the cover of Beneath a Scarlet Sky on a mini art canvas.

From 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, attendees will explore the themes and imagery of the Community Read selection through hands-on creativity. All supplies will be provided, making it easy to participate whether you consider yourself an artist or simply enjoy trying something new. Space is first come, first served, and supplies are limited. This program is intended for adults.

Miraleste Library itself is a meaningful backdrop for this event. Designed by architect Thomas J. Russell, the branch features expansive windows that frame views of the surrounding community and Long Beach Harbor. Originally established as a “station” library at Miraleste Elementary School in the early 1950s, it has served as a vital community hub since 1970. Over the years, the library has evolved to better serve residents, including accessibility improvements and expanded spaces for programs and children’s services.

PV Reads brings neighbors together through shared reading experiences, and this workshop adds a creative dimension to that connection. By interpreting the book cover in your own style, you engage with the story in a new and personal way while connecting with others in the community.
