Time: 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Address: Ocean Trails East Bluff - Twin Harbors View Dr & La Rotonda Dr, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275
The Docent Guided Nature Walk at Ocean Trails Reserve offers a chance to explore one of the most scenic parts of Rancho Palos Verdes while learning more about the area’s natural and historical landscape. Set along the eastern bluff, this guided walk combines coastal views, local history, and a closer look at native habitats.
Beginning at 9:00 AM, participants will meet at a sign-in table located on Twin Harbors View Drive. From there, the group will head out along the East Bluff and Gnatcatcher Trails, walking through coastal sage scrub habitat that is unique to this region. The pace is moderate, with the full experience lasting approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
Along the way, docents from Los Serenos de Point Vicente will share insights about the environment and the theme of the walk, “Modern History of PV and San Pedro.” The route also includes points of interest tied to World War II history, adding another layer to the experience beyond the natural surroundings.
With sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, there is also the possibility of spotting migrating gray whales offshore. The coastal setting makes the walk feel both peaceful and engaging, offering a chance to slow down while taking in the landscape.
Guests are encouraged to come prepared with water, as there are no drinking fountains along the trail, and to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes for safety. Parking is available nearby along La Rotonda Drive, with access to the meeting point just off Twin Harbors View Drive. In the event of rain, the walk will be canceled.
This is why We Love South Bay Local. Events like this create simple opportunities to get outside, learn something new, and experience the natural beauty that surrounds Rancho Palos Verdes.
