Sea Scare: Monsters of Myth at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium

Get ready for a night of mythical creatures and Halloween fun at Sea Scare: Monsters of Myth at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in San Pedro. This one-night event takes place Saturday, October 17 and transforms the aquarium into an evening inspired by legendary sea monsters and creatures from mythology.

Sea Scare will feature trick-or-treating, games, arts and crafts, a live DJ, food trucks, and a costume contest. Guests can also make their way through a family-friendly haunted house while exploring the aquarium after dark.

This year’s Monsters of Myth theme dives into stories of mythical sea creatures, adding an ocean-inspired twist to traditional Halloween festivities. It is a fun opportunity to experience Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in a completely different way while learning a little about the legends and stories that have surrounded the sea for centuries.

Kids who want to get creative before the event can also enter the Sea Monster Poster Contest. Participants are invited to create their own mythical sea monster, with posters limited to 12 by 16 inches. Entries are due by 5:00 PM on October 7, and winners will receive free tickets to Sea Scare. Winning artwork will also be displayed in the aquarium’s Exhibit Hall.

Sea Scare runs from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and tickets are required. The aquarium expects the event to sell out, so purchasing tickets in advance is recommended.
