Whether you’re dusting off your sewing machine for the first time or you’ve been stitching for years, this 4-hour workshop offers the time, space, and guidance to explore your creativity.

What You’ll Do

Bring your sewing machine and supplies, and dive into your own project at your own pace. With large worktables, an ironing station, and a cutting mat available, you’ll have everything you need to focus and create. If you’re a quilter, special assistance is available for quilt-related projects!

Meet Your Instructor: Sharleen Taira

Shar Taira is a lifelong artist and longtime Torrance educator with a background in ceramics, origami, painting, and textile arts. A quilter for over 25 years and former president of the Acacia Quilt Guild, Shar brings experience, encouragement, and a passion for making to each class. Her classes at Torrance have been a community favorite for decades—and this new Sewing Workshop is no exception.

Why You’ll Love It

This class isn’t just about learning sewing skills—it’s about sharing space with other makers, finding inspiration, and making something with your own hands. It’s a space to relax, experiment, and enjoy a few hours of focused creativity.

This is why we Love South Bay Local—opportunities like this connect neighbors through shared interests and inspire creative expression in every corner of the community.
