Shakespeare by the Sea is back this summer with a free outdoor performance of Julius Caesar at Hesse Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. The show begins at 7:00 PM on Sunday, July 6, 2025, and all are welcome to enjoy an evening of drama, dialogue, and timeless storytelling.

Directed by Stephanie Coltrin, this production of Julius Caesar explores loyalty, honor, and the moral consequences of political ambition. It's a powerful and accessible performance, perfect for longtime Shakespeare fans and newcomers alike.

Bring your picnic basket, a blanket or low-back beach chair, and maybe a jacket for the evening breeze. Nestled in one of the most scenic parks on the Peninsula, Hesse Park offers a beautiful setting to enjoy theater under the stars.

Shakespeare by the Sea (SBTS) is a nonprofit theater company that has been sharing free Shakespeare with local communities since 1998. What started as nine performances in one South Bay park has grown into a seven-week summer tour across Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura Counties. SBTS remains the only Shakespeare company on the West Coast to tour this extensively, offering free shows to audiences of all backgrounds and ages.

This is why We Love South Bay Local. Nights like this—watching classic plays in a beautiful park, surrounded by neighbors and fresh air—are a reminder of how lucky we are to have accessible arts and culture right here in our own community.
