Skateboard Family Workshop at the Hermosa Beach Museum

Hermosa Beach Russell Nomura and Yoshiko Oest September 2, 2026

Date: Saturday, September 12, 2026
Time: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: Hermosa Beach Museum – 710 Pier Ave, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254

Learn a little about local skateboarding history and get creative at the Hermosa Beach Museum's Anatomy of a Skateboard Family Workshop. This hands-on event gives participants a chance to explore historic skateboards dating from the 1950s through the 1990s.

After checking out the museum's collection, participants will decorate and assemble their own fingerboard alongside a pro. It's a fun way to learn more about how skateboards have evolved while creating a miniature board to take home.

The workshop is $10 for participants, and guardians can attend for free. Space is limited, so advance RSVP is recommended.

Whether you have a young skateboarder at home or you're interested in the history of skate culture in the South Bay, this is a fun Saturday activity that combines local history, creativity, and skateboarding.

We love events that celebrate the people, stories, and culture that make the South Bay unique. The Hermosa Beach Museum is a great local resource for discovering more about our area's history, and this workshop is a fun way to experience a piece of it.
