Date: Tuesday, June 23, 2026
Time: 3:00 PM
Address: Walteria Library – 3815 W 242nd St, Torrance, CA 90505

BARK Reading to Dogs returns to Walteria Library for an afternoon designed to help young readers build confidence and strengthen their reading skills in a fun, supportive environment. Children are invited to read aloud to gentle therapy dogs, creating a relaxed experience that encourages a love of books without the pressure often associated with reading aloud.

Beginning at 3:00 PM, participants can spend one-on-one time reading stories to specially trained therapy dogs who provide patient, non-judgmental companionship. The program helps children practice literacy skills, improve reading confidence, and develop a positive connection with books.

The welcoming atmosphere makes the event approachable for readers of all skill levels. Whether a child is just beginning to read independently or already enjoys spending time with books, reading to a therapy dog can make the experience more enjoyable and engaging.

Programs like BARK Reading to Dogs continue to be popular because they combine learning with comfort and encouragement. The presence of therapy dogs helps create a calm setting where children can focus on reading while having fun.

Hosted at Walteria Library, the event is part of Torrance Public Library's ongoing commitment to providing educational and community-focused programs for local families. It offers a simple but meaningful opportunity for children to grow their skills while spending time in a welcoming library environment.

This is why We Love South Bay Local. Events like BARK Reading to Dogs create opportunities for learning, confidence-building, and community connection right here in Torrance.
