The Exhibit Hall Grand Reopening at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium marks a special moment for the San Pedro community, celebrating both Earth Day and the aquarium’s 90th anniversary. This event brings together education, conservation, and hands-on experiences in a setting that highlights the connection between the ocean and the local community.

From 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the day will feature a full schedule of activities designed for all ages. The morning begins with a beach cleanup from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, offering a meaningful way to start the day while contributing to the local coastline. A ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00 AM officially marks the reopening, followed by the Opening Fair from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Inside the aquarium, guests can explore newly updated spaces, including the renovated Main Exhibit Hall, the new Jelly Lab, and a preview of the Collections Room. These additions create new opportunities to learn about marine life in a more interactive and engaging way, building on the aquarium’s long-standing role as an educational resource.

Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities including films, guided tours, puppet shows, and interactive exhibits. Food trucks will also be on site, making it easy to spend several hours at the event. The combination of outdoor and indoor experiences allows guests to move at their own pace while exploring everything the aquarium has to offer.

Cabrillo Marine Aquarium continues to make accessibility a priority, offering sensory bags at the Welcome Booth for guests who may benefit from additional support. The event is designed to be inclusive and welcoming, ensuring that more people can comfortably enjoy the experience.

Whether attending for the exhibits, the Earth Day activities, or simply to explore the updated space, the Grand Reopening offers a thoughtful way to spend the day by the coast. It brings together learning, community, and environmental awareness in a setting that feels both engaging and approachable.

This is why We Love South Bay Local. Events like the Aquarium Reopening create opportunities to connect with the ocean, learn something new, and experience the coastal environment in a meaningful way right here in San Pedro.
